Christmas Present
I've received a very pleasant present these days. It was a compliment about my English skills. A native speaker said that she was "shocked" to find out that I was a Romanian. Judging from my writing, she had the impression I was British because of my "stiff" writing style. :) That's a very nice feeling, being called a Brit by an American. This gives me more courage to pursue something in writing. Now, I should see what exactly I want to write.
I have my mind on copy writing and technical writing, but lately I've been thinking about comedy writing. I love comedy, and I love to tell jokes, so it would be something I'm passionate about. Of course, it's one thing to tell a joke from time to time, and quite another thing to have to write comedy daily or on a regular basis. I need to have the commitment to keep doing that.
One solution to get into the habit would be to join Cracked and start writing for them. That could offer a lot of valuable experience, so I'm considering it as a serious solution. Having a book on comedy writing could also mean a lot for the development of my skills. I'll have to see about this, and also to cut down on the time spent on the computer. It has risen again.
I think I'll start tomorrow since it's Monday.
